Frequently Asked Questions
You probably still have some questions about Well Planned Day.
I understand! You want to make sure that this is the system for you!
Let me share with you just a few of the questions our customers frequently ask.
Is this planner all I need, or do I need other planners as well?
Well Planned Day helps you easily manage homeschool, home, and life all in one place. But, that means it has to be a rather large planner, making it hard to just drop it into your purse and take it with you everywhere.
That’s why some moms like to also grab an On the Go for an easy carry-along option or to have a place to manage personal to-dos. This is especially true for homeschool moms who also manage a job, either inside or outside the home.
Finally, if you have students in middle school or older, you probably want to consider teaching them time management skills as well. I have planners designed especially for them, whether they are in middle school or high school.
How do I get started using Well Planned Day?
I’m the kind of person who just naturally loves planners. But even I had to learn what it meant to use a planner well. So, I understand that it’s not easy to just pick up a new planner and instinctively know where to start.
That’s why, starting this year, I’ve included the ACHIEVE method in the front of Well Planned Day. This goal-setting and planning system walks you through what it looks like to set goals, lay out homeschool lesson plans, and work through the daily and weekly process of planning.
It can feel like a lot when you first open your planner. But if you’ll walk through each step of ACHIEVE, you’ll be a planning pro in no time!
Where do I write down all of my appointments and events?
Each monthly spread of Well Planned Day is designed to be spacious enough to allow you to keep track of all of your appointments and family events. You can also jot these down in the extra space in your weekly spread to make sure it’s in front of you on a daily basis.
Is it possible to use Large Family edition of Well Planned Day to plan for more than six children?
Although the Large Family edition is designed to accommodate up to six students, this planner is also created with a very flexible weekly layout that can be used to accommodate a wide variety of options. This is especially true if you combine grades for certain subjects or have preschoolers who do not need individual planning for every subject. The biggest limitation is that the benchmark, evaluation, and record keeping pages are limited to six students.
What if I don’t have a large family? Should I automatically choose the original Well Planned Day or is there a reason why the Large Family edition might be a good choice for me?
The Large Family edition of Well Planned Day is laid out in a landscape design which actually works better for some personality types. Even some homeschoolers with only a couple of students sometimes prefer the flexibility and landscape format over the more traditional portrait layout of the original Well Planned Day. The best planner is the planner that you will use, so you are definitely encouraged to choose the design that works best for your personality.
How far ahead should I plan? Do I plan out a full semester? A full year?
As you walk through the ACHIEVE method, you’ll learn how to lay out benchmarks for the year, helping you stay on track for finishing your curriculum. But, my advice to homeschoolers is to only plan specific assignments one week at a time. So much can change from week to week. A lesson can take longer than intended or an unexpected interruption can throw you off track. It’s much easier to make adjustments if you’ve only planned one week at a time, using your benchmarks to help ensure that you are on target to reach your goals.
